Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode responded to a widely shared video that purportedly showed Peter Obi, a former Labour Party presidential candidate, being bounced by Vatican security during Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration.
As other dignitaries entered the VVIP zone for the papal inauguration ceremony, Obi and Cardinal Francis Arinze were seen speaking with a Vatican security guard in the footage that went viral.
The former governor of Anambra was reportedly stopped for apparently not having the necessary invitation permit.
Fani-Kayode responded by making fun of Obi in a tweet on his X Twitter, claiming that the former governor had been “beautifully bounced” until President Bola Tinubu stepped in.
He wrote, “Despite Cardinal Arinze’s noble efforts it appears that @PeterObi was not allowed in to see the Pope.
“He was beautifully bounced until @officialABAT put in a word for him and he was later allowed in to pay homage”.
According to FFK, despite the intervention, Obi was “not allowed anywhere near the Pope and instead went and paid homage to our President.
“Obidients take note: only go where you are accepted and appreciated and not where you are tolerated”.
