Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has praised former Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as a symbol of inspiration and a figure admired across generations, stating that his legacy will be remembered for years to come.
In a birthday message delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, to mark IBB’s 84th birthday, Bago referred to the retired general as a national icon and dedicated leader who has spent much of his life in service to Nigeria.
He acknowledged Babangida’s courage and patriotism, highlighting the former leader’s efforts in maintaining national unity, promoting stability, and driving development during and after his time in office.
According to him, ” The elder statesman has written his name on the sands of time through the numerous policies and programmes implemented when he was the head of State and military president of Nigeria between 1985 and 1993″.
The governor also recognized Babangida’s efforts in preserving Nigeria’s historical heritage and advancing education, pointing to the establishment of the IBB Presidential Library, named in memory of his late wife, Dr. Maryam Babangida.
” I also celebrate the enduring legacy of the celebrant in the political and economic evolution of Nigeria and congratulate him for attaining the age of 84, which he said is a great milestone in life, ” he maintained.
