On Saturday, the Presidency declared that 120 young people who were chosen from all over the nation had received N60 million in funding.

In Abuja, this was announced by Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education (SSAP-TVEE), at the presentation of funds, Solar Kiosks, and Certificates of Completion to worthy participants in the “Unlock Training Programme.”

The programme, she explained, was the result of a six-week campaign started by the Presidency, in which young people in Nigeria were asked to record and submit a one-minute video describing their current TVET skills, their future plans for these skills, and how they wanted the government to help them realise their potential.

According to Arogundade, participants in the programme, both in-person and virtually, received instruction on various topics related to creating a solid business plan, such as risks, pricing, money management, executive summary, business overview, and marketing tactics.

The presidential adviser went on to say that approximately 10,000 people attended a 10-day intensive training course at the end of the campaign to learn how to create and carry out business strategies.

Her words: “After the course, participants were asked to write and submit business plans. Today, we are giving out N500,000 grants each to 120 winners with the best Business Plans.

“We are also giving out honourary awards to 80 persons seen to be doing very well in their Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship skills but need support to upscale their businesses.

“As you must have seen on your way in, there are four Solar Kiosks to be given away to winners to support the business development of their TVET skills. They include one designed for hair dressing, one designed for catering and food vending and the other two for general purposes.”
