The Presiency has responded after Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Amid rumors that he was considering running for president, El-Rufai, a founding member of the ruling party, revealed his defection in a statement on Monday.
Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Media and Policy to President Bola Tinubu, responded by posting on his official X handle: “The MOTIVE is what we will interrogate in the coming days and remind Nigerians that you are not a phenomenon that emerged like a clap of thunder out of a blue sky.
“We will intellectually remind you that associating with sore losers to unseat the incumbent is not an IDEOLOGY, neither is it PROGRESSIVISM; it is simply an inordinate AMBITION that is destined to fail.”
But according to the presidential assistant, he had nothing against the former governor because he had only used his “constitutional right.”
