President Tinubu breaks silence on Rivers crisis

President Bola Tinubu addressed the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State on Tuesday, breaking his silence on the issue.

Speaking at a meeting with leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, Tinubu revealed that he had anticipated the crisis.

He called on PANDEF to return home and work towards peace in line with the rule of law, especially given that the Supreme Court had already ruled on the matter.

The president shared that he had made several efforts, both privately and publicly, to promote peace in the state.

Stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law, Tinubu stated: “I should not be here as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if there is no rule of law.

“I have total confidence in our judiciary. Human beings can make errors, but once the Supreme Court has spoken, that is it.”

It was reported that the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, pledged on Tuesday to implement all rulings of the Supreme Court to ensure peace is restored in the state.
