Queen Janet Afolabi, a CNN award-winning journalist and queen of the Apomu Kingdom, has distributed 150 bags of 50kg rice to residents of Apomu in celebration of the Ileya Festival. The initiative aims to provide relief to those in need and support rural families.

Speaking at the launch of the Olori Janet Afolabi Foundation Food Bank, the queen stated, “Every package of rice represents moments of relief. As we distribute the food, we are not just meeting a basic need—we are offering compassion, care, and kindness.”
The food bank is a long-term initiative to combat hunger and promote well-being in the community. According to the queen, “Our food bank is more than a pantry—it is a symbol of hope. We are reminding those in need that they are seen, heard, and valued.”
The food bank will offer services including food distribution to indigent families, nutrition education, and counselling. The queen emphasized that the initiative is a testament to the foundation’s dedication to serving the community
