American rapper Taymor McIntyre, known professionally as Tay-K, has been found guilty of murder for the second time, following a jury’s decision that he was responsible for the fatal shooting of Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio.
Tay-K now faces a potential life sentence with eligibility for parole in connection to the 2017 killing of the 23-year-old.
He is already serving a 55-year sentence for a different deadly shooting.
According to prosecutors, the rapper shot Saldivar during an attempted robbery.
However, his defense team challenged the integrity of the police investigation, arguing that it was overly reliant on statements from witnesses who were present in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
“Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, and the reason for that is very simple.
“You have to do it right. You have to do the work. And this case clearly demonstrates the work wasn’t done,” John Hunter, one of McIntyre’s attorneys, told jurors during closing arguments last week.

While the jury cleared Tay-K of the capital murder charge which would have led to life imprisonment without parole they will now consider additional evidence before determining his final sentence.
