Amid increasing opposition to US military action in Iran, a Fox News national survey indicates that approval ratings for US President Donald Trump are falling.
The poll indicates that 42% of voters back the ongoing US military operations against Iran, while 58% are against it—this group includes almost 40% who oppose it vehemently.
Political lines show a wide variation in support for the military effort.
Among Republicans, the support for the action is at 77 percent, while it stands at 12 percent for Democrats and 28 percent for independents.
The gender gap is smaller, as 45 percent of men back the action in contrast to 38 percent of women.
Although there was some backing, numerous voters voiced worries regarding the conflict’s long-term effects.
A greater number of respondents think that the military action will make the United States less safe rather than more safe, while approximately 25% indicated it would have minimal impact.
The survey indicates an increase in disapproval regarding Trump’s management of Iran. Approximately 64 percent of voters express disapproval, an increase from 57 percent in January. Disapproval of his overall foreign policy has increased to 62 percent, up from 60 percent last month.
Trump’s overall job approval rating currently stands at 41 percent, while 59 percent disapprove — this marks the highest disapproval rate recorded during both of his terms. A strong disapproval was expressed by almost half of the respondents (47 percent).
