Rivers Assembly clerk disowns pro-Fubara faction, insists Amaewhule is Speaker

Emeka Amadi, the Rivers State House of Assembly clerk, has disowned the Assembly’s side that supports Governor Sim Fubara.

Amadi urged Martin Amaewhule to continue serving as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

According to the clerk, on October 30, 2023, the three assembly members who supported Fubara—Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy—were suspended and are no longer eligible to serve as House officers.

Jumbo was named the next Speaker of the Assembly by a few lawmakers on Thursday.
