Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, asked his followers on Monday to hold fast as the state’s political crisis continues to develop.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate some of the governor’s powers, ZINGTIE previously reported that supporters turned out in force on Monday morning to show their solidarity with the governor.
Speaking to the supporters, Fubara warned them to prepare for perhaps more tense occurrences in the future.
He asked them not to be discouraged by the ruling of the supreme court, which invalidated the local government election he held and reinstated lawmaker who had been fired.
He said, “I want to assure all our supporters. I know that the news that broke out on Friday must have dampened your spirit. Brace up, for what is ahead is more than what we just passed.
“As a human being, I know you feel somehow, but just relax. God has our backs. Our back is not on anybody but God.
“If there is one person on this planet earth that will stand by you, I will be that person. I assure you that I will leave you with honour, respect, and integrity.”
