Rivers crisis: Eze takes bold step against Wike over impeachment threats on Fubara

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, to call Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike to order.

This comes after State Assembly members led by Marthin Amaewhule made a fresh threat of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Eze, urged Tinubu “to prevail on Wike to curtail the excesses of the 27 lawmakers,” referring to them as “the minister’s foot soldiers.”

Eze stated that Tinubu “calls Wike to order to save the situation of a perceptible breakdown of democratic institutions by the lawmakers,” who he claimed “are taking orders and prohibitions from the Minister.” This was the critical moment, according to Eze.

Earlier this week, ZINGTIE reported that Governor Fubara had made it known in the public that he feels some disrespect from certain local government chairmen in the state.

About the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Governor has been at loggerheads.

The local government chairmen, according to Fubara, had dug pits into which they would fall.

During the commissioning of the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre yesterday, the Governor had a direct conversation with Vincent Job, the Local Government Chairman of the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Some local government chairmen and the majority of state assembly members had disassociated themselves from Fubara-led state government duties, backing the minister, as the Governor and his predecessor were engaged in a political crisis and power tussle.

However, Eze stated on Friday that it was strange for the lawmakers to issue infamous threats to the Governor when there is no evidence of any verified offense committed by the latter to support such a threat of impeachment.

The APC Chief urged Governor Fubara to “remain focused in delivering democratic dividends to Rivers people and pay no heed to the antics of detractors who are hellbent on frustrating efforts of impacting the people with good governance.”
