Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North has pleaded with the rival factions in Rivers State to lay down their weapons and let harmony rule the region.

During a courtesy visit to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday, Kalu delivered the reprimand.

Stressing the value of peace and reconciliation, Kalu counselled Fubara to make amends with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, his predecessor, stating that peace would serve the state’s interests.

He told the governor of Rivers state about his intention to work with President Bola Tinubu to expedite the process of reconciliation.

Kalu praised Fubara’s dedication to the development of Rivers State and asked the governor to keep putting the welfare of people first.

He said, “Governor Fubara, your leadership has shown great promise, and it is evident that you have the people’s best interests at heart.

“I encourage you to maintain peace and work towards reconciliation with former governor Wike.

“Such unity will undoubtedly strengthen the state and foster an environment conducive to growth and development. I also promise to get President Tinubu involved to ensure a speedy reconciliatory process.”
