On Wednesday, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara made fun of Nyesom Wike, the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and his immediate predecessor.

The governor was reportedly responding to Wike’s dance video that went viral on social media last week when he made his remarks on Wednesday after the residents of Ogbakor Etche paid him a solidarity visit in Port Harcourt.

Last Monday, a video clip of Wike dancing went viral online, sparking controversy on social media.

The minister appeared in the video sporting a blue street-style coat by Versace that was purportedly valued over N2 million.

Concerned individuals reacted to the video with regret, criticising Wike’s decision to spend a significant sum of money on fashion in the midst of the nation’s dire economic situation.

In a speech to the Etche people on Wednesday, Fubara advised his supporters not to be misled by the activities of his political opponents, claiming that they cry behind the scenes while dancing in the media.

He said: “Don’t let anybody deceive you. They can come to the media and dance but when they go behind, they cry.

“The truth is that we don’t know how to dance but we say it the way it is and we stand tall anywhere we go.”
