On Monday, the Governors Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared its support for Sim Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State.
This was revealed by the Forum following its meeting in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, which was chaired by Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State.
After declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months.
In order to address the state’s political problem, Tinubu declared a state of emergency.
Additionally, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas was appointed Rivers’ sole administrator by the president.
The PDP governors stated in a statement following their meeting in Ibadan on Monday: “We restate our commitment to stand with him (Fubara) until the end amid the challenges posed by the declaration of a state of emergency in his state.”
“The Forum finds alarming the worsening security situation in the country,” the PDP governors said in response to the country’s deteriorating security situation, which is especially bad in Borno, Katsina, and Edo states.
In order to effectively address security breaches, the PDP governors emphasized the necessity of a bottom-up approach and urged for a “review and reorientation of priorities and strategies.”
