The 23 Local Government Areas in the state have administrators appointed by Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the only administrator of Rivers State.
This was revealed in a Special Government Announcement released Wednesday morning by Prof. Ibibia Worika, Secretary to the State Government.
The announcement stated that the appointments take effect immediately, although it did not provide specifics about the new hires.
It reads, “His Excellency The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
“He has also approved the reconstitution of some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals, earlier suspended.
“All appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025.”
It was discovered that Ibas also gave his approval to the creation of a few commissions, parastatals, and boards of agencies that he had previously suspended.
The appointment comes only twenty-four hours after a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt allegedly barred Ibas from designating administrators to oversee local government council affairs.
