Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara acknowledged that he would not hold the governorship without the backing of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He expressed gratitude to Wike for providing him with the opportunity to run for governor.

While receiving the New Telegraph Man of the Year Award on Friday, Fubara expressed his gratitude.

He stated that it was Wike’s finding of him that provided him with his loudness and shaped him into the person he is today.

Keep in mind that the duo have been estranged.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Fubara said, “I do not care how you interpret it or misinterpret it. I also dedicate this award to somebody who also discovered me not minding the situation, the Honorable Minister of the FCT, my oga, Nyesom Wike.

“Without him, I wouldn’t be standing here as governor. He discovered me and it’s a discovery that gave me this loudness. Thank you for everything.

“I also dedicate this award to the people of Rivers State that have shown support, quietness and maturity that has brought us this far.”
