During their electioneering efforts, political parties in Rivers State have been reminded to carefully abide by advertising laws and regulations ahead of the August 30th Local Government Council elections.

Dike Bekwele, the chairman of the Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Port Harcourt Chapter, advised political parties and their candidates to make sure that all campaign materials are sent to the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, for verification by registered practitioners, according to a statement that journalists were able to obtain on Thursday.

Bekwele warned that using unlicensed operators is against the ARCON Act of 2022 and advised against doing so.

He emphasized how crucial it is to work with only licensed advertising practitioners who can help get the required regulator clearance before campaigns launch.
