The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has nominated an interim leadership to stabilise its affairs after a High Court on Monday removed Aaron Chukwuemeka as its chairman.

In a decision on an interlocutory injunction requested by Edwin Woko and three other parties, the state High Court, presided over by Justice Stephen Jumbo, on Monday prevented Chukwuemeka and his state executives from posing as PDP executive members in the state.

Woko and three others, all PDP members, disputed the congresses that produced Chukwuemeka’s executive committee.
They contended that it was unlawful since the congresses had broken a previous court order.

According to Justice Jumbo, the PDP’s alleged state, local, and ward congresses lacked legal standing and were invalid from the outset.

The judgement, therefore, annulled the congresses conducted on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024.

A State High Court headed over by Justice Charles Wali had on July 20, 2024, prevented the PDP from going ahead with the congresses.

The acting chairman was Nname Robinson Ewor, the PDP’s Rivers West Senatorial Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Governing Council of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic.

Ewor will lead the PDP with recently hired executives to address persistent internal tensions and power struggles, the party said in a statement acquired by ZINGTIE on Wednesday.

Acting State Chairman Nname Robinson Ewor, Acting State Secretary Field Nkor, Member William Fialaosika, Member Bellor Kingsley Waite, Member Sydney Gbara, Member Uranta Humphrey Clinton, Member Victor Pepple, Member Alom Austin Mba, Member Beauty Adokiye, and Member Emily Solomon are on the list of interim executive members. Sunny Daniel, Sule Amakiri, Alalibo Graham Braide, Simon Hart, Ngozi Ogbonda, Constance Oruma, and Augusta Agwor are all among the members.

Local Government Area (LGA) and state chairmen are also involved in the leadership. These include: Handsome Ekelechi Agile (Ahoada East), Thompson Marcus (Ogu/Bolo), Oba Fred (Okrika), Christian Obene (Akulga), Dennis Amadi (Ikwerre), Nwuche Chukwuemeka (Ahoada West), Wilcox Buruwi (Bonny),Pepple Godwin (Opobo), Monday Dumiye (Gokana), Oduye Tom-West (Asalga), Victor Ere (Andoni) – Member, Princewill Ejikwe (Onelga), Otamiri Ngubo (Etche), Minikwu Uche (Emohua).

Nyesom Wike is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Chukwuemeka and the restricted state executives are loyal to him.
