Former Rivers State Governor Dr. Peter Odili has come under fire from Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over a recent statement that disparaged his principal.
During a self-organised Christmas ballad honouring Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his family, according to ZINGTIE, Odili claimed that the incumbent governor valiantly prevented Wike from turning Rivers State into his own domain.
Odili claims that Fubara mustered extraordinary strength to oppose the FCT Minister’s attempt to seize the state through a bloody but needless political conflict.
Olayinka responded by calling Odili’s remark disappointing in a post on his official X handle, saying that the former governor, who is supposed to be an elder statesman, has devolved into a silly person.
Olayinka promised that Odili would receive a well-earned reaction from the FCT Minister in the days ahead.
“I Read the comments made by the former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, today, and I can’t but be disappointed that someone who should be acting like an elder statesman can reduce himself to such ridiculous level of partisanship.
“Well, he will get his deserved response from the FCT Minister in due course”, Olayinka wrote.
