The All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government has been tasked by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop its exploitation, fraud, and manipulations that have caused Nigerians to endure unspeakable suffering.
Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, made a statement on Friday on behalf of the PDP.
Despite the current economic, security, and social issues facing the country, the party congratulated Nigerians on celebrating Eid-el-Kabir in 2025 and urged people to take use of the opportunity to strengthen their trust in the Almighty Allah’s unwavering love, mercy, and provisions.
Nonetheless, the party voiced worries over what it called “the pervading sense of gloom in the country, the worsening insecurity where the nation has become a large killing field with citizens left at the mercies of terrorists, bandits and marauders and the unbearable economic hardship and agonizing life-discounting experiences all resulting from the reckless mismanagement of national resources by the insensitive APC administration”.
By eradicating corruption and examining all anti-people policies, and among other things, reduce the cost of fuel, electricity tariff and charges on critical services, the opposition party tasked the APC administration with revitalizing the productive sector and bringing about national reconciliation.
According to the PDP, the APC government has to stop recklessly borrowing money and mortgaging the country right away. This borrowing cannot be linked to any projects or programs that would improve the country’s quality of life.
The opposition party demanded that the federal government return the more than N30 trillion that was purportedly embezzled by well-known APC leaders through a number of shady oil transactions and other financial transactions from APC-run government institutions.
The PDP believes that these stolen monies need to be retrieved and used to improve the functioning of our security agencies, revitalize the economic sector, and provide essential infrastructure.
“Our party therefore urges President Tinubu to use the remaining two years of his administration to redeem his image as a leader by being more sensitive towards the wellbeing of Nigerians in line with the demand for selflessness and submission to the Will and Command of the Almighty Allah which the Eid-el-Kabir teaches.
“The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation.
“The PDP felicitates with Nigerians and wishes the nation a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” the statement said.
