The Saudi Pro League cautioned Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo that “no individual – however significant – determines decisions beyond their own club.”
This addresses Ronaldo’s frustration regarding his team’s inactivity during the January transfer window.
The 41-year-old is dissatisfied with Al Nassr’s lack of new signings.
Ronaldo has already missed one league match and is reportedly contemplating missing the upcoming game against Al-Ittihad on Friday.
In a statement on Thursday, the league emphasized that clubs operate independently, even regarding their finances.
“The Saudi Pro League is built on a simple idea: every club works independently but follows the same rules,” it read in part.
It added: “Like any top player, he wants to win. But no one, not even a superstar, can decide what happens outside their own team.”
