Scotland: Why Dessers lost first-team spot – Clement

The reason behind Cyriel Dessers’ removal from the starting lineup has been clarified by Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

At the beginning of the season, Dessers was the striker of choice for Rangers.

However, since the end of November, the 30-year-old has not started a game for the Light Blues.

In the hierarchy, the forward presently lags behind Danilo and Hamza Igamane, two young players.

According to Clement, Dessers’ contribution to the team has diminished as a result of Igamane’s rise.

“I spoke with Cyriel (Dessers) about why he’s playing less than before, and that’s because of the growth of Hamza (Igamane),” he explained.

“We will see what happens.

“Cyriel is working really hard. He’s a very good lad; he thinks collectively always.”
