Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, has stated his belief that the party will elect a president and govern Nigeria in 2027.

In a meeting with SDP members and executive members led by State Chairman Yinka Ola-Williams on Saturday in Abeokuta, Adebayo made this statement while accompanied by Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Youth and Sports.

He stated that while the party opposes hunger, insecurity, and the nation’s unemployment problem, it does not oppose President Bola Tinubu personally.

He said,” “One thing that God is telling me is that there will be an SDP president in the villa in 2027.

“For the first time in a long time we will have people who care for the people. Let’s remain focusd. The problems of Nigeria are our problems not individuals.

“We are not against Tinubu as a person but we are against hunger, inflation, poverty, insecurity, unemployment. That’s what we are against.“

Members’ concerns about the purported party takeover were also allayed by Adebayo, who stated that the SDP National Working Committee could only issue membership cards via the state executive.

“We have spoken to the National Chairman and the NWC, he said there’s no counterfeiting of anything. Any card that’s not given through the state, LG and executives is not from the SDP”.

In the meantime, Yinka Ola-Williams, the party’s state chairman, invited anybody who is interested in the party or who is willing to join them to work together to create a better government that will eradicate poverty, improve healthcare, and enhance education.
