Yusuf Buhari, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) 2023 vice presidential candidate, has switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Along with the party’s candidate for Kano State governor, Buhari also deserted, as did members of the working committee and candidates for local government.

They stated that President Bola Tinubu’s achievements in office served as the impetus for their defection.

Barau Jibrin, the Senate’s deputy president, told the defectors that it would be pointless for certain politicians to utilize the SDP as a platform to run against the APC in 2027.

Only a few days have passed since Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, defected from the APC to join the SDP.
