Three police officers in Kebbi State have been slain by terrorists from Lakurawa.

CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the public relations officer for the Kebbi Police Command, confirmed the killing in a statement, stating that the Lakurawa terrorists were trying to target commuters traveling the Zogirma/Tilli route when a joint squad of cops engaged them in a fierce gunfight.

The Command reported that several terrorists were neutralized and that it lost three personnel. Others, fatally wounded, fled to the neighboring woodland.

The Zogirma Divisional Police Officer quickly organized a squad of officers and raced to the area with reinforcement from No 36 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, Abubakar said, but the bandits left before they could get there.

While praising the deceased officers’ bravery, tenacity, and sacrifice, Commissioner of Police CP Bello M. Sani prayed for their eternal rest.

He urged locals to be on guard and notify the closest police station of any unusual activity.
