Raji Ridwan, a 25-year-old male, has admitted to trying to exploit a 17-year-old college student and has blamed the chilly weather for his behavior.

Osun State’s Ila-Orangun is where the incident took place. Vanguard said that Ridwan forced his way into the room of a Federal University of Health and Science student who was in the 200 level after she refused to engage him in discussion.

Narrating the event, Ridwan admitted, “I ran after her and banged straight into the room. But the girl held my clothes tight and was shouting, which attracted neighbours, and I found a way to run away from the room.”

Since then, his confession has been widely rejected. Ridwan fled the scene before he could be caught because the teenager’s cries alerted the locals, but he was eventually arrested when a report was filed to the authorities.

Later, Ridwan said he lost control in the moment and that the frigid temperature affected his choice. “It was the cold. I don’t know what came over me,” he told investigators.

The defendant is in arrest and will face legal charges, according to confirmation from the Osun State Police Command. The public was reassured by a command spokeswoman that the issue is being handled with the highest seriousness.

According to reports, the victim is secure and getting psychological and emotional support in the meantime. Women’s rights activists and student organizations have denounced the act and demanded more campus protection.

To avoid reoccurring incidences, authorities have advised the public to report suspicious behavior as soon as possible.
