Shocking information about how a purportedly virgin Nigerian woman became pregnant and gave birth without having sex has surfaced.

Due Process Advocates (DPA) founder and Harvard-trained attorney Mr. Emeka Ugwuonye posted the contentious story on the group’s official Facebook page.

A human rights organisation called Due Process Advocates is based in the US.

While telling the tale, attorney Emeka Ugwuonye disclosed that a woman from Ebonyi State had come to DPA seeking assistance with her marital problems.

Ugwuonye claimed that her experience had less to do with being born a virgin and more to do with divorcing after a brief but terrible marriage.

As a virgin, she wed a man. The man travelled to Nigeria for the wedding, spending a month there even though he was based elsewhere.

The man turned out to have erectile difficulties after the wedding. He was unable to obtain or sustain an erection. His erection was not powerful enough to penetrate the lady’s vaginal walls during sex because she was a virgin, but he would nonetheless release sperm on top of them each time.

To try to get him to have an erection, they went to a lot of hospitals in the state and the surrounding states. However, everything fell short. They argued and the woman moved out after a month.

The man claimed that when the families got together to discuss their differences, he did not want the marriage anymore.

They informed him that he needed to follow the standard divorce procedure. However, he maintained that the union was never fully consummated.

Ugwuonye said, “As strange as it sounds, it is true. Now, let me tell you how it happened. A lady, based in Ebonyi State, came to DPA yesterday. Her story was not even about her virgin birth, but rather about getting a divorce from a short-lived but traumatic marriage. She married a man as a virgin. The man was based overseas. But he came to Nigeria for the wedding and spent one month. (This was the same man that wanted to lick poo and drink urine).

“After the wedding, it happened that the man had erectile dysfunction. That is: he had weak and feeble erection. He could neither achieve nor maintain erection. Given that the lady was a virgin, his erection was not strong enough to penetrate her vaginally. However, he would release sperms each time on top of the walls of her vagina. They went to many hospitals in the state and the neighboring states to see if they could get him to achieve erection. But it all failed. After a month, they quarreled and the lady moved out. When the families came together to address their issues between them, the man said he did not want the marriage anymore. They told him that he had to go through the normal process of divorce. But he argued that the marriage was never consummated.”

“When you say that a marriage has not been consummated, it means that the husband and wife have not had sex. To prove that, the man told his in-laws to check to confirm that his wife’s hymen had not been ruptured. Hymen is the film-like covering of the entrance into the vagina which has been the main way of confirming whether a person is a virgin or not. The first time a girl has sexual intercourse, the hymen would break as the man penetrates her. If the hymen is still intact, is strongly suggests that the lady has not had sex. Truly, his wife’s hymen was not ruptured and the wife admitted that the man had not been able to penetrate her vaginally during intercourse. This was a delicate subject: If a man tries to penetrate a virgin, but could not do that because of erectile disfunction, is the virgin still a virgin? Even if he discharges a load of sperms on top of her vagina without penetrating her, does that amount to penetration? What is it that should penetrate the woman in order for her to cease to be a virgin? Is it the man’s penis that must penetrate her or is it the sperms that should penetrate her? This is a complex subject which I don’t want to go into here.”

Barrister Ugwuonye continued the story, saying that everyone believed the woman was still a virgin and that the marriage had not been completed because her hymen was not raptured.

But when the woman went back to her parents’ residence a month later, she found out she was expecting a child. Her hymen was still intact, though.

Ugwuonye went on, “Based on the confirmation that the lady’s hymen was not ruptured, everybody assumed that the marriage was not consummated and that the lady remained a virgin. The lady moved back to her parents’ house, believing that the marriage was over and that there was no consummation. But about one month after the lady returned to her parents’ house, she discovered that she was pregnant. Yet her hymen was still not ruptured. In other words, she was still a virgin. What happened was that, apparently, as the man was trying to get his weak and dead agadogwu in, he would spill his juice over the vagina and some of it entered through the small opening on the hymen. Those sperms eventually fertilized the lady’s egg, resulting in a pregnancy. That must have been how a virgin got pregnant.

“DPA is working on this case now and these issues will be playing out in full glare of the family court in Nigeria. Hopefully, this case will open us up to a more detailed discussion of the subject of intercourse. What is sexual intercourse? What is penetration in sex? What penetrates what and what is to be penetrated in order for sex to be said to have occurred? Must there be penetration at all for sex to happen? How has our understanding of sex changed over the years? How have these changes resulted in changes in the definition of sexual offenses such as rape? Today, definition of rape in America and Europe is remarkably different from definition of rape in Nigeria. Why? We shall be discussing this subject in the coming weeks.”
