A former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, has expressed that he would not hesitate to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if its internal processes are compromised.
Obi made this statement during an interview on Arise TV on Monday.
He discussed the reasons for his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and indicated that he might be willing to switch parties again if necessary.
“I moved from APGA to the PDP because of issues with my successor. Rather than let it become toxic and destructive to the governance of the State, I moved out,” Obi explained.
He shared his experience in the PDP, noting how the party became transactional.
“People were not playing by the rules. It was transactional. I cannot be part of a transactional primaries. I cannot be paying people to go and serve them,” Obi stated.
He continued, explaining his decision to join the Labour Party after leaving the PDP, describing it as a way to escape from a system that he felt was corrupt.
“I’m in ADC with the same people, some of whom have left PDP and other parties but we are going through the same process,” Obi said.
“If that process is again compromised, I will speak out,” he warned.
Obi emphasized that he would be willing to move again if necessary: “If I have to move 20 times, I will.”
