Farouq Aliyu, a former House of Representatives minority leader, has criticized Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential contender, for promising to serve just one term if elected.
During his guest appearance on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” program on Wednesday, Aliyu made this claim.
He attacked Obi, calling his pledge empty rhetoric and charging him with not knowing how complicated Nigerian governance is.
“Sometimes when you’re out of office or when you’re not in the place, you’d not know. To me, it’s just rhetoric, and he’s also trying to convince people,” Aliyu said.
He maintained that Obi’s background as a state governor does not provide him the viewpoint required to lead a nation the size of Nigeria.
“Obi is talking out of ignorance. He doesn’t know. States are different from Nigeria,” Aliyu added.
According to ZINGTIE, Obi stated that if elected president in 2027, he would be content to serve only one term.
