Veteran musician Bright Chimezie has dismissed the notion held by some artists that alcohol and smoking enhance creativity.
The renowned Because English singer challenged the idea during a recent appearance on the CreativTea Podcast, describing it as misleading.
He argued that artists who engage in smoking or drinking are simply doing so for personal enjoyment, not as a means to boost their creative process.
“The claims that you need to drink or smoke to get music inspiration is false. If you are drinking or smoking, you are just having fun. That doesn’t mean it will boost your creativity,” he said.
Chimezie further emphasized that true musical inspiration flows naturally and doesn’t rely on substances.
