According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a federal senator from Abia North who sits in the national assembly’s red chamber, most of the solar systems marketed in the nation are produced in Aba, Abia State.
According to The Sun, Orji Uzor Kalu made this statement to support a resolution in the upper chamber on the urgent need to investigate the 11 886 massive projects the Nigerian federal government had abandoned. The motion was sponsored by Sen. Jimoh, Ibrahim Folorunsho, who represents Ondo South.
APC leader Orji Uzor Kalu served as governor of Abia State before joining the party.
He is regarded as one of the most revered and respected politicians in the country’s South East region.
He said; “Nigeria is talking about manufacturing cars and other machinery, but steel is being imported from China and other surrounding countries like Vietnam and sometimes Russia.“
“If we don’t resuscitate Ajaokuta and even the Aluminum tank farm close to Akwa-Ibom, there won’t be anything like industrialisation.”
He added; “If they come on stream, our people will have jobs and see where to work and the industrial revolution of Nigeria will kick off. We keep talking about China but why can’t we make Aba and Nnewi our warehouse”
“Some of you buy solar thinking they were made in China but they are made in Aba. Why should we be suffering over what could have been done since,”
