After giving birth to twins with lighter skin tones, a mother from South Sudan’s Twic Mayardit Community sparked discussions regarding paternity and genetics.

A Dinka man, the twins’ father, became the focus of attention after the mother openly attributed their children’s peculiar look on his excessive milk drinking.

According to a Facebook post by Shadrack Kaletsana, the mother claimed to be perplexed by the twins’ skin tone and jokingly blamed her husband of “overdosing” on milk, implying that it might have affected the twins’ looks.

The husband allegedly apologised to his wife and pledged to cut back on his milk consumption going forward in response to the perplexing circumstance.

In diverse communities, where mixed ancestry can result in a range of physical features regardless of parental backgrounds, this instance highlights the complexities and myths surrounding genetics.

Even though the mother may have been joking, her remarks reveal a deeper cultural knowledge of looks and ancestry.

In a related narrative, families have occasionally questioned conventional notions of parenthood as a result of negative DNA test findings.

An English couple, for example, was shocked to learn from a DNA test that their child did not match their genetic makeup.

Following extensive investigation and debate, it was discovered that the mother had not told her spouse about a fertility procedure she had performed using donated eggs.
