President Bola Tinubu has been advised to reconsider staying in office by former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who believes that leaving office could be the wisest course of action for the nation.
In an interview with Arise TV’s Daybreak on Monday, he claimed that the President’s two and a half years in office have not lived up to the promises made or the accomplishments frequently attributed to him.
He maintained that the government’s official statements do not accurately represent the problems Nigerians face on a daily basis.
“There’s a wide discrepancy between what he says he’s doing and what people say they are living,” he said.
Additionally, Baba-Ahmed criticized the President’s security strategy.
According to him, “President Buhari left a terrible security situation and Tinubu doesn’t appear to have improved it; rather, it appears that he has made it worse.”
He suggested that Tinubu’s age, his long-held ambition to become president, and having “no further value to offer” may be reasons for asking him to step aside.
“If President Tinubu loves the survival of Nigeria, I think he should call it quits,” he said.
Nigerians should look for someone else in 2027, he continued, “whether within or outside his party, who has better qualities.”
