Tonye Cole, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Rivers State, has attacked Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, for his affiliation with the ruling APC although professing to be a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Cole stated during his appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Friday that Wike shouldn’t mislead people about his political affiliation.

“Is he APC or is he PDP? As far as we know today, he is PDP.

“We cannot continue confusing the electorate in Rivers State and confusing Nigerians because it is dangerous for democracy, that you are in one party, you are controlling another party and we are trying to create a one-party state that is a mixture that nobody is clear about,” he said.

ZINGTIE recalls that Wike ran for president in 2023, telling voters that he would relocate to the South in contrast to his party’s Northern nominee, Atiku Abubakar.

President Bola Tinubu later nominated the former governor of Rivers State as a minister.

In many forums, he has voiced his support for the president’s bid for a second term.

According to ZINGTIE, the APC won 20 of the 23 council seats in the August 30 local government election in Rivers.

Three councils were won by the PDP, including Obio/Akpo, where Wike chaired the council for two terms in 1999 before becoming governor from 2015 to 2023.
