Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has come under fire from Abdullahi Ibrahim, the PDP’s deputy national publicity secretary, who claims that Wike’s constant meddling has embarrassed the party.
Considering that Wike is currently in an All Progressives Congress (APC) government, Ibrahim called Wike’s decision to impose six criteria before to the party’s next national convention “ludicrous” in an interview with Arise News on Wednesday.
“Why are you coming up with six conditions?” Ibrahim asked.
“You are giving PDP conditions, and the entire country is laughing at us all because of one individual who is on the APC’s payroll. Enough is enough. We have to draw the line; he cannot continue like this.”
Although he previously backed Wike’s opposition to the party’s zoning plan before to the 2023 elections, the PDP spokesman clarified that the minister’s actions now surpass sincere worries.
“I have spoken up for him more than anyone else in this party, justifying his stand against the zoning formula in 2023. I have supported him in many battles. But there comes a time when a responsible person must stop,” Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim says that the PDP needs to fend off any more attempts at distraction or extortion in order to preserve its unity and reputation.
