Three students from Caldew School have been working tirelessly to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s charity, as a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care one of their siblings received from the Liverpool hospital. Ethan, Kingsley, and Tessa’s efforts were recently recognised by Alder Hey’s chief executive officer, Fiona Ashcroft, who expressed her gratitude for their kind donation of £203.51.

The students’ personal connection to the hospital stems from Ethan’s little sister, Emilia, who was diagnosed with craniosynostosis as a baby. Alder Hey is one of the few hospitals in the UK that treats this condition, and Emilia has received outstanding care from the hospital’s staff.

As part of their ASDAN project, the students organised a coffee morning at Caldew School, baking cakes and serving tea and coffee to staff. Their hard work paid off, and they were thrilled to receive a thank-you letter from Fiona Ashcroft.

“Thank you Caldew School, Ethan, Kingsley, and Tessa for your kind gift to support brave young patients at Alder Hey this winter,” Ashcroft wrote. “Your continued support will help over 1200 babies, children, and young people who need Alder Hey each year.”

Caldew School Head Teacher, Ms. Jackson, presented the students with their certificates and shared a personal connection to the hospital. “I have also benefitted from the amazing care at Alder Hey,” she said. “My daughter needed their care over a number of years when she became ill at the age of two.

Ethan, Kingsley, and Tessa are committed to continuing their fundraising efforts for Alder Hey and are already planning their next event to support the charity. Their selfless actions are a testament to the positive impact that young people can have when they come together to make a difference.
