Trump wants Musk to be ‘More Aggressive’ in Federal Cuts

US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he wants Elon Musk, his billionaire advisor, to be “more aggressive” in carrying out his reform program that involves reducing the size of the federal government.

“Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him get more aggressive,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Remember, we have a country to save.”

The computer entrepreneur was appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, where he is tasked with reducing public expenditure and combating waste and suspected wrongdoing.

The drive to fire large portions of the government workers has been spearheaded by Musk, the richest person in the world and Trump’s largest fundraiser.

The US Defense Department will reduce its civilian personnel by at least 5% beginning next week, according to the most recent cuts revealed Friday.

Numerous other probationary federal employees have already been let go by Trump’s administration.

On Thursday, a judge refused a union attempt to temporarily block the termination of thousands of people.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is a free-ranging  organization  overseen  by  Musk, though the cost-cutting frenzy  has been greeted with pushback on numerous fronts  and a mixed bag  of court rulings.
