Sule Lamido, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reiterated his dedication to the party, asserting that he will remain despite its internal challenges.

On Saturday, Lamido revealed this at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State, where party leaders gathered to deliberate on the party’s future in light of internal conflicts and rising defections.

He condemned well-known politicians who have switched sides and joined lesser parties.

“PDP is my political home. It may have problems, but it remains my home. I will not abandon it for another party,” he stated.

The ex-governor warned that leaving the party because of its difficulties is not the solution, likening it to abandoning one’s family in hard times.

“Leaving your home because it has challenges is not the solution,” he added.

Lamido further alleged that certain politicians are now trying to control or “take over” smaller political platforms, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC), from their original founders.

“They left their big home and now want to take over smaller parties built by others,” he said, warning that such actions could undermine political integrity and party development.

Lamido stressed that the issues facing the PDP should be addressed through internal reforms and shared responsibility, rather than through defections.

He called on party members to remain dedicated and collaborate in order to rebuild and fortify the party from the inside.

He stated that unity and commitment would assist the party in recovering its strength and credibility before upcoming elections.

He urged party loyalists to revalidate their online party registrations and ensure they are registered to vote ahead of the 2027 general election.
