The Super Eagles have returned to Abuja following their 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Players and members of the coaching crew arrived back in the Nigerian capital after Tuesday’s disappointing result.

The defeat marked Nigeria’s first loss in the qualifiers, coming days after they fought back to secure a 2-1 victory over Madagascar last Friday.

Franculino Djú put the hosts ahead in the first half after cutting in from the left flank before curling his effort beyond goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Mama Baldé doubled Guinea-Bissau’s advantage after the restart, before Álvaro Djaló completed the scoring with a third goal in stoppage time.

The defeat leaves the Super Eagles second in Group L with three points.

Guinea-Bissau, meanwhile, sit at the top of the group with six points after winning their opening two qualifying matches.

Madagascar and Tanzania each have one point after playing out a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
