The Super Falcons of Nigeria cruised to a dominant 3-1 win over long-time rivals, the Black Queens of Ghana, in an international friendly played on Sunday in Casablanca.

Ghana came close to scoring first in the 17th minute, but Doris Boaduwaa’s low shot missed the target.

Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Chiwendu Ihezuo found the net with a deflected strike.

Just before halftime, the Super Falcons were awarded a penalty, confidently slotted home by Asisat Oshoala to double the lead.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade extended the advantage with a composed finish five minutes into the second half.

Ghana appeared to pull one back in the 55th minute through Evelyn Badu, but her effort was disallowed for offside.

In the 56th minute, Nigeria’s head coach Justine Madugu made three changes—bringing on Ifeoma Onumonu, Sikiratu Isah, and Esther Okoronkwo for Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, and Ihezuo.

Although the Super Falcons created more chances afterward, they couldn’t add to their tally.

Ghana eventually got a consolation goal from the penalty spot in the 88th minute, converted by Alice Kusi.

Both teams will now set their sights on the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria is set to face Tunisia in their opening match next Sunday.
