The Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday, which dismissed the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee Labour Party (LP), will open the door for the restoration of peace, unity, and order inside the party, according to Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
In response to the Court’s decision, Otti declared that the party’s leadership had been validated.
The National Caretaker Committee was established with Esther Nenadi Usman as its chairman and Darlington Nwokocha as its secretary, he said, because the Abure-led National Working Committee’s term had long since ended.
Governor Otti went on to say that the committee was established with the goal of promoting harmony and peace while fortifying the party to build on the victories of the previous election.
Governor Otti hailed those who remained faithful during the fight for the party’s soul and praised the Supreme Court for its wise ruling, saying it satisfied the aspirations of Nigerians in general and true members of the Labour Party in particular.
Assuring that he and other party leaders were dedicated to creating an inclusive party free from prejudice and partiality, Otti also invited the party’s former national officers to work with the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Caretaker Committee (NCC) to advance the party.
