Suspected herdsmen hijack fully loaded vehicle, kill driver, abduct passengers

On Sunday night, suspected armed herdsmen reportedly intercepted a commercial vehicle traveling along the Otukpo-Adoka route in Benue State, fatally shooting the driver and kidnapping every passenger onboard.

The attack took place at approximately 11 p.m. as the vehicle made its way from Abuja to Otukpo.

According to witnesses, the gunmen began shooting the moment they spotted the vehicle, striking the driver and causing him to lose control and crash into nearby bushes.

Following the ambush, the attackers took all passengers into captivity and left the vehicle behind.

The deceased driver, said to be a resident of Adoka, has been found and his remains returned to his community.

Security forces have since arrived at the scene and begun operations to locate the perpetrators.
