A renewed attack on the Adógó community in Mbakundu Kindred of Tombo in Buruku LGA of Benue State is said to have killed at least six people by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, the raiding herders killed the animals.

In a widely shared video on his official Facebook page, Haakyav Tombu Peter, a well-known son of the impacted town, bemoaned the fact that the attackers arrived in huge numbers, carrying automatic weapons, while it was still dark outside.

He claimed that the intruders used matchetes to shoot and kill innocent individuals as they moved from house to house.

According to reports, the attack went on for hours without any security personnel stepping in to save the defenseless people.

According to sources, the bodies of six victims—including children—have been found thus far, and their remains have been placed in the Adógó Community Health Clinic.

Ansambe Akpen, Shina Ayom Akpen, Bade Jam Ata, Shiekuma Kpebee, and Sughter Avindigh Taku are the deceased victims that have been retrieved thus far; the identity of the sixth victim is still unknown.

As of the time of this report, calls to the Benue State Police Command Spokesperson’s mobile phone were not returned, therefore attempts to verify the incidence were unsuccessful.
