The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Vanguard Taraba State Chapter has called on Governor Agbu Kefas to reconsider his strategy and give priority to projects that will benefit Taraba residents in quantifiable ways.

In response to the governor’s frequent international travels, the group issued the appeal in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement, which was signed by Rikwense Muri, the group’s publicity secretary, lamented that the travels had failed to draw significant state investment.

The governor has traveled to the United States, Finland, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and most recently, India, where he took part in a ministerial panel, according to the APC Youth Vanguard.

The group acknowledged the necessity of looking into investment prospects, but they were disappointed by what they described as a lack of tangible economic benefits resulting from these trips.

They argued that such expenses put a significant strain on the state’s finances, citing figures showing that the Taraba State Government spent more than ₦6.5 billion on international travel in just the previous year.

They emphasized that money intended for international interactions would be better spent on regional development initiatives that have a direct bearing on economic expansion, job creation, and infrastructure.

“As advocates for youth and development in Taraba, we urge the governor to critically evaluate the effectiveness of these trips and focus on efforts that yield real outcomes for the people,” the statement read.

The group demanded more accountability in governance and restated its dedication to backing projects that actually improve Taraba State.
