The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Taraba State University, has congratulated Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara on his appointment as the Head of Civil Service, Taraba State.

In a congratulatory message, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, chairperson of SSANU, praised Governor Agbu Kefas for his choice, describing the appointment as a step towards civil service reform. “SSANU, Taraba State University, sincerely commends Governor Agbu Kefas for appointing Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara as the new Head of Civil Service, Taraba State,” Ajibauka said.

Ajibauka added, “To us, Dr. Kara’s appointment is a testament to Governor Kefas’ vision for comprehensive reform of the state’s civil service, which will redefine governance and place Taraba on the global map of administrative development.”

SSANU TSU stated, “While we congratulate Dr. Ahmed Kara on his well-deserved appointment, we pray that God grants him wisdom to lead the Taraba State civil service to new heights, fulfilling the aspirations of civil servants and further advancing Governor Kefas’ transformational agenda for the state.”

Dr. Kara’s appointment was announced by Chief Gibon Timothy Kataps, the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), on Tuesday evening, following the retirement of his predecessor, Mr. Tino Paul Maigida.

Dr. Kara has had a distinguished career, serving as the Head of Government House Clinic, Jalingo, and as a physician to the governor from 1999 to 2015. He has also held various positions, including Chief Medical Officer at the Health Services Management Board, Director of Hospital Services at the Ministry of Health, Taraba State, and Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS).

Before his recent appointment, Dr. Kara was assigned to supervise the newly established Ministry of Tertiary Education as Supervising Permanent Secretary on December 6, 2024.

SSANU TSU expressed optimism that Dr. Kara’s wealth of experience and expertise would bring about positive changes in the state’s civil service. The union urged Dr. Kara to work tirelessly to reform the civil service and improve the welfare of civil servants in the state.
