Residents of Jigawa State’s Dutse Local Government Area were tense Friday after a man’s body was discovered on Kandahar Hill.

The body was found early Friday morning by boys playing around the hill in Dutse Metropolis, a neighbor told ZINGTIE.

He claimed that once the decomposing body was purportedly found with certain parts removed, the scenario caused a communal outcry.

In a statement, SP. Shiisu Lawan Adam, the Jigawa State command’s police public relations officer, stated that the body had been recovered, but no body parts had been taken out.

He stated that on September 16, 2025, at approximately 1545 hours, a good Samaritan reported the unnatural death in Dutse Division.

According to the report, “a decomposed body had been sighted at Kandahar Hill, opposite Dutse General Hospital, who was later identified as one Ado Barau, alias Jojo of 37yrs of Kasarau Fagoji, Dutse metropolis, who had been suffering from a mental disorder”

He claimed that the Dutse Division investigators arrived on the site right away. However, with the help of the local government’s welfare department, the body was buried at the spot because of its advanced condition of decomposition and unpleasant stench.

The body was rushed in front of his family, the district head’s representative, the Fagoji ward head, DSS officers, NSCDC staff, FRSC, and other local residents.

The state’s citizens were advised by the Jigawa State Police Command to refrain from disseminating false information that would incite panic and to report any suspicious people or items to the closest security agency so that swift action could be taken.
