In Kawo Ward, Kaduna North Local Government Area, at least 300 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A permanent member of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, or SUBEB, Jamilu Haruna, welcomed the new members and said the mass defection was a resounding affirmation of Governor Uba Sani’s performance.
According to Haruna, Governor Sani has implemented effective administration in his first two years in office, encompassing everything from rural transformation and agricultural reform to infrastructure development.
“This defection is not surprising. Even members of the opposition acknowledge Governor Uba Sani’s giant strides in security, education, food security, and citizens’ welfare.
“These achievements have set him apart from his peers and strengthened his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This puts Kaduna in a strategic position to benefit further from the Federal Government,” he said.
He praised Alhaji Sani Liman Kila, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, for his assistance in planning the event and promised the defectors that they would be fully integrated into the APC.
On behalf of Governor Uba Sani, Alhaji Suleiman Wada Usman, the APC chairman of Kaduna North Local Government, greeted the defectors.
He praised them for what he described as accepting the truth and siding with the party that is truly dedicated to the advancement of Kaduna State.
“You will be treated fairly and equally in our party. No one will be considered a second-class member,” he assured.
Professor Usman Muhammad, a former PDP senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central and the head of the defectors, stated that he led 225 PDP members because they support Governor Sani’s inclusive governing approach.
He criticized the PDP for excluding seasoned members like himself, despite their credentials and service.
