President Bola Tinubu has expressed his sorrow over the passing of prominent businessman Pascal Dozie, the founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank and the first Chairman of MTN Nigeria.

A statement released on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed the news.

Dozie passed away at the age of 85 in the early hours of Tuesday.

Tinubu remembered Dozie as “a distinguished business leader whose insight, modesty, and pioneering spirit established a strong foundation that many continue to build upon.”

“The loss of his presence is deeply felt within the private sector and across Nigeria,” Tinubu further stated.

The President offered prayers for Dozie’s soul to rest in peace and conveyed his sympathies to his wife, children, and the rest of his family.

He also called on Nigeria’s private sector to honor Pascal Dozie’s legacy by embracing the principles of integrity, innovation, and nation-building, which he was widely recognized for.
