Tinubu was never my friend – El-Rufai speaks on APC primary election

Nasir El-rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has stated that he was not close to President Bola Tinubu.

During the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary poll, El-rufai said in an interview with Arise TV on Monday that he did not care whose candidate was selected.

He emphasized that it didn’t matter who the South submitted, saying that his only worry was for a Southerner to become the party’s flagbearer.

He said, “I was indifferent on who became the presidential candidate of APC.

“The only thing I was determined to do was to stop a Northerner from becoming the candidate of the party based on what I know.

“When we formed the party in 2013, we agreed that after Buhari’s 8 years, power will go to the South.

“Tinubu was never my friend, we weren’t close”.
