Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, is the chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, or TSSNL, and he has pledged that by December 2024, Nigeria will produce two million barrels of crude oil per day (mbpd).

Nigerian gas output has increased to 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day, while crude oil production has reached 1.8 million barrels per day, according to a Thursday announcement from the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL.

The NNPCL and other stakeholders, such as security agencies and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), a private security firm managing the pipeline protection contract given by the Federal Government in an effort to prevent oil theft in the Niger Delta, have received praise for the development.

Speaking through his Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo responded to the development by stating that Tantita was dedicated to achieving 2 mbpd by December 2024, as instructed by President Bola Tinubu.

He said: “This milestone, as you know, was achieved in collaboration with NNPCL, security forces and of course, Tantita, which has been at the forefront of oil pipeline protection in the Niger Delta.

“We are determined to take it to 2 mbpd before the year runs out as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“All the needed machinery has been put in place to ensure that the target is achieved. No effort will be spared to ensure that the economy of Nigeria is galvanised.

“This will lead to a boost in government’s revenue, thereby making more funds available for the President and his team to run the country effectively. I am assuring you that we are not going to rest on our oars until the target is achieved and even exceeded.

“New technologies were being deployed to monitor the facilities with a view to ensuring that there won’t be any disruption and that the theft of Nigeria’s commonwealth is halted.

“So the 1.8mbpd that it has got to, certainly by the end of the year, by God’s grace, we will work to get it to 2 mbpd and even exceed. We are working towards that.”

In response to widespread oil theft in Nigeria, Tantita led the fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in 2022 after the Nigerian government awarded the pipeline protection contract. Tantita worked with security agencies to chase oil thieves out of the country’s coastal environment and confiscate their equipment.

It was learnt that following the assault by Tantita agents stationed along the Niger Delta’s coast, the majority of oil thieves left the illicit enterprise.

The most recent increase in the quantity of petroleum and gas resources produced was largely the result of these cooperative efforts with other state entities.

At a press meeting on Thursday in Abuja, NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, declared the 1.8 mbpd crude production milestone. According to ZINGTIE, Kyari stated that the accomplishment was made in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

The Production War Room Team, which served as the backbone of the production recovery effort, was also commended by Kyari.

“The team has done a great job in driving this project of not just production recovery but also escalating production to expected levels that are in the short and long terms acceptable to our shareholders based on the mandates that we have from the President, the honourable minister, and the board,” Kyari stated.

Mr. Lawal Musa, the Chief War Room Coordinator and Senior Business Adviser to the Group Chief Executive Officer, provided an overview of the Production War Room’s efforts. He stated that the Office of the National Security Adviser, government and private security agencies, and partners in the Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contracts worked together to accomplish the feat.

Security authorities were keeping a tight eye on the pipes as part of the actions that helped production return, according to Musa.

He noted that production was at 1.430 mbpd on June 25, 2024, the day the Production War Room Team was established.

Musa claims that when the team jumped into action, the production recovery was sustained to 1.7 mbpd in August and reached the present 1.808 mbpd in November.

“We are confident that with this same momentum and with the active collaboration of all stakeholders, especially on the security front, we can see the possibility of getting to 2 mbpd by the end of the year,” he added.
